Poop science for the win!

From lions to......lemurs!

So sometimes Twitter is a wonderful thing. I've long been fascinated by lemurs, I mean, what's not to love? They are unique to Madagascar, and they are sadly among the most endangered vertebrates on Earth. I've not had the opportunity to see if my research could contribute anything to lemur conservation, however.....until now.

I put a post on Twitter, asking if anyone knew someone working with lemurs who might be interested to talk to me about my ideas, and amazingly my new colleague Sarah Greene's sister works at the incredible Duke Lemur Center...

We are now in touch, and I have the first set of samples extracted from lemur poop to run to look at what organic compounds we can find that we can use to identify differences in what the lemurs are eating.

Stay tuned for updates on this!
